The Dream

For a long time I wanted a pick up truck. Why… There is no logical reason I can put my finger on. But every time i rent one for the typical suburban home owner duties their is a huge smile on my face. Then when I got into serious landscape photography I started taking my Honda Accord into places where a billy goat should be scared.

Then I remembered childhood love of camping. In talking to an Australian friends a few years ago he said that I should google Overlanding and I was hooked. The concept of car based camping where the destination is the journey is exactly with I did for my photography in my Honda Accord.

I began collecting epic rig build pictures and watch every youtube video on the topic I could find. The first think that hit me like a ton of brick was a the price or should I say THE FREAKING PRICE. 

A decently equipped full size truck is 40 to 50k new, used they are about 25 –  30k. Tires can run $400 each. Lift Kits, Bumpers etc all go into the thousands. A fully built rig can range from 60k to over 5000k. Yes 500,000 American dollars. 

But there has to be away. Right?
